Organizational Development and Transformation
Equity work involves deliberate efforts at both the individual and organizational level; many equity initiatives tend to focus on individual knowledge and skill development, rather than organizational development.
There are no “best practice” cookie cutter approaches that work in all organizations; equity efforts should always be grounded in the historical and contextual background of the organization and communities being served and ensuring organizations and communities articulate their own cultural context, which takes time and a relational approach. We also engage the organization as a partner in the identification, development and implementation of the supports needed.
The journey of an organization becoming equitable is a long one. Equity in Action is there to support one part of that journey, understanding that gaining knowledge alone is not sufficient. Action is needed to initiate transformation, in order for there to be true critical reflection and learning. All of our organizational efforts understand there is an interdependent cycle of action, reflection and building knowledge and an organization dynamically responds to its own mission, vision and environment.
Equity in Action can work with your organization to actively integrate equity into many aspects of organizational practice, learn from that practice and make further changes to continue improvement. Some of the areas in which we have worked collaboratively with clients include:
